The fabric does not have a backing which means it does not have a stabilizing backside. This is the reason it has the same colour on both the front and back and it also means it has a wonderful drape. Especially suitable for curtains.
An upholstery corduroy fabric without backing is easier to work with and to shape. This makes it ideal for smaller projects like mesh bags and clutches.
The wale count of this corduroy is 6
What is wales?
A wale number gives you an idea of the width of the ribs in the corduroy which determines the feel of the fabric. When you see a wale number given for a corduroy it tells you how many ribs per inches it has.
A low wale number means wider ribs and a high wale number means smaller ribs. For instance a 4 wale corduroy will feel dense while the ribs of a 21 wale corduroy will make it feel more fine.
The Martindale rub count of this fabric is 20.000
What is Martindale?
Martindale is a term used to tell you something about the durability and robustness of a fabric. The higher the Martindale rub count is, the more durable the fabric is.
If you need the fabric to upholster furniture, we recommend that you pick a material with a minimum Martindale rub count of 20.000.
